France plans to invest 2 billion Euros in advance to promote bicycle development

According to the French media Usine Nouvelle, France recently announced a bicycle action plan, which includes strengthening infrastructure, expanding incentives, and promoting the development of the industrial chain.

The French government plans to invest a budget of 2 billion euros from 2023 to 2027 to promote the popularization of bicycles. Bicycles are one of the key industries in France's 2030 investment plan, and localized production will be strengthened. The French government will invest 100 million euros to support the development of the bicycle industry chain, aiming to increase production from 854,000 in 2022 to 1.4 million in 2027 and to 2 million in 2030. The characteristics of French-made bicycles include innovation, environmental protection and affordable prices, which will be the future development trend.

The French government plans to invest 250 million euros per year to expand bicycle lanes to 80,000 kilometers in 2027 and 100,000 kilometers in 2030, and inject funds to improve bicycle safety. In addition, the scope of the subsidy will be extended to second-hand bicycles, with a view to promoting environmental protection, increasing purchasing power and creating employment through the development of the second-hand bicycle market. The government will also increase the sustainable transportation subsidy (200~300 euros) for the public sector to encourage more people to go to work by bicycle.
